Thursday is this little Lapa institution’s signature night: the weekly Encontros Casuais roda at 9 pm, hosted by Inácio Rios and Mosquito with surprise guests and visiting sambistas. It is samba the way cariocas actually live it – open-air, cold beer, everyone singing – and gentle on a newcomer’s nerves and wallet. Arrive 8.30 pm, stay till close around 1 am.
