She made it clear that she was referring to the men featured in Telex's article and video, whose task during Viktor Orbán’s tour was to silence those attempting to protest against the government and the prime minister during his speeches. Telex filmed them in Veszprém when several of them rushed at the protesters and snatched a banner from their hands. The government spokesperson said that one of the men in the video claimed that he was there as a concerned citizen. However, during a review conducted within the Prime Minister’s Office, a document was found in which the man was listed as a contact person for Fidesz, and his email address was szemelyititkar@fidesz.hu, (personal assistant@fidesz.hu) so, according to the government spokesperson,it is likely that “he did not attend the event as a simple citizen, but had gone there in an organized manner, as a member of the Fidesz staff”.According to the spokesperson, if this is indeed the case, then it would appear that what occurred in Veszprém was not simply a case of disorderly conduct, but rather that there were party-political interests behind the events, and the men were acting against the counter-protesters in a coordinated and organized fashion. The Prime Minister’s Office will forward the documents to the authorities as supplementary evidence to the criminal complaint, since an investigation into the matter has already been launched on suspicion of disorderly conduct—it was announced at the government briefing. The spokesperson did not specify which of the men identified in the Telex article this referred to.At the end of May, police questioned a 25-year-old man as a suspect who, according to allegations, had in late March 2026 committed an act at an event in Veszprém which meets the legal definition of the misdemeanor of disorderly conduct. The police stated at the time that further charges were expected to be filed in the case. The scene shown in the video released by the police was filmed by Telex in Veszprém when we attempted to speak with the men who, according to our observations, had been tasked with whistling and chanting at the event, in order to silence those who were protesting against the prime minister and his government. Our video shows two men physically snatching the banner from the hands of protesters, who were standing several hundred meters away from the scene, by the side of a road, and posed no threat whatsoever to Viktor Orbán’s supporters or the event. The scene with the banner can be seen at 4:41.When we asked one of them, 25-year-old Bertalan Gremsberger, why he had done this, he denied that anything of the sort had happened; moreover, he claimed that he was attending these events as a private citizen. “I don’t want to talk about it,” he said in response to our question about his relationship with Gábor Kubatov, Fidesz's party director. The police did not disclose the name of the person who was questioned. In a previous article, we provided a detailed profile of the individuals who regularly appeared at Viktor Orbán’s election rallies around the country. At that time, all we knew about Gremsberger was that he could regularly be seen in the company of Gábor Kubatov. Two days later, Gremsberger told a Telex journalist that Gábor Kubatov had in fact written about their relationship in his book Nem mondhatom el senkinek…. In the 500-page volume, Kubatov devoted a full page to introducing Gremsberger, whom he described in the caption as his personal secretary and the head of the presidential media team. For more quick, accurate and impartial news from and about Hungary, subscribe to the Telex English newsletter!Állítsd be a Telexet megbízható forrásnak!Latest
