Israel’s Channel 12 reported on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, that the Israeli security apparatus is closely monitoring the escalating conflict between the United States and the Islamic Republic, anticipating that the hostilities could rapidly expand and draw Israel into the campaign.

According to the media outlet, while the latest military confrontations have remained confined to the Persian Gulf region and have not directly affected Israel, Tel Aviv is actively preparing for several scenarios given the potential for rapid deterioration.

The report noted that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is holding a security consultation meeting this evening, with Defense Minister Israel Katz in attendance.

Furthermore, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have elevated readiness levels across all branches, maintaining both defensive and offensive alert states. According to the report, the IDF has finalized operational plans, armed and deployed fighter jets on high alert, and updated its target banks based on the latest intelligence.

The report added that the IDF is maintaining tight coordination with U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) to ensure the military is fully prepared for any sudden escalation and avoids being caught off guard.
