Amazon is looking to raise up to $25 billion in a US bond sale.As reported by Bloomberg, initial interest in the bond sale reached $62 billion, but was later pared back to around $41 billion.According to Amazon's filing with the SEC, the bonds were split into eight tranches: $750m of floating rate notes due 2029, $3.5bn fixed-rate notes due 2029, $4.25bn due 2031, $3bn due 2033, $4.5bn due 2036, $2.75bn due 2046, $4bn due 2056, and $2.25bn due 2066. The fixed-rate notes have interest rates between 4.6 percent and 6.25 percent.A separate filing states that the proceeds will be used for "general corporate purposes, which may include, but are not limited to, repayment of debt, acquisitions, investments, working capital, investments in our subsidiaries, capital expenditures, and repurchases of outstanding shares of our common stock."The bond sale comes as the company expects to invest some $200 billion in 2026, the majority of which will go towards Amazon Web Services' (AWS) AI and data center buildout. According to its March 31, 2026, balance sheet, the company had $143bn in cash and securities.This latest bond issuance brings its total for the past year to around $107bn. In March 2026, Amazon raised $37bn in a US dollar bond sale, and a further €14.5bn ($16.8bn) in a euro-bond sale. This followed $15bn in US bonds in November 2025.Last month, the company raised C$14bn (US$10bn) in Canadian bonds.
