The Dubai Metro Blue Line's first tunnelling phase was completed in just two months, marking a significant milestone for the $5.58 billion project.

The 30km Blue Line, half underground, will feature 14 stations connecting key districts including Mirdif, Dubai Silicon Oasis and Dubai Creek Harbour when it opens in 2029.

Once complete, the Blue Line will expand Dubai's Metro network to 131km of track, 78 stations and 168 trains, reducing road congestion by 20 per cent.

Dubai also unveiled plans for a $9 billion Metro Gold Line, a 42km underground route extending the network by 35 per cent, due to open on September 9, 2032.
