A kidnapped farmer, Aliyu Alaramma Kawon Kontagora, has narrated how he fought armed members of the kidnapping kingpin Dogo Gide's gang before they eventually overpowered him by “shooting him in the head” during an abduction inside Kulho forest in Niger State.
Aliyu, who was kidnapped alongside his younger brother, said he endured five days of severe torture in captivity but eventually escaped without paying a single kobo in ransom.
His account comes amid growing insecurity across parts of Niger State, where Dogo Gide's criminal network has continued to terrorise rural communities. The bandit leader was recently accused of imposing illegal levies on farmers in parts of the state and had also recently clashed with the Lakurawa group, in which he reportedly lost several of his fighters.
Speaking in Hausa during an interview with Gaskiya News Hausa, monitored by SaharaReporters, Aliyu gave a detailed account of how he resisted his abductors from the moment they appeared until they finally captured him.
According to him, the incident occurred while he and several others had gone into the forest to prepare farmland.
