Sheikha Hoor Al Qasimi has been appointed president of Sharjah Museums Authority under an Emiri Decree issued by the Ruler of Sharjah.

The authority oversees more than 20 museums spanning art, heritage, archaeology, science and Islamic civilisation across the emirate.

The appointment expands her already significant cultural portfolio, which includes leading Sharjah Art Foundation and directing Sharjah Biennial since 2003.

She has taken on a growing number of international roles, including artistic director of Aichi Triennale, where she became the first non-Japanese to hold the position.
