The Nasarawa State Police Command has launched a manhunt for gunmen who abducted three students of the Federal University of Lafia, rescuing one of the victims during a search-and-rescue operation.

The command said efforts were ongoing to rescue the remaining two students and apprehend the kidnappers.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday.

According to the statement, the incident occurred on Tuesday at about 9:20 p.m. after the university’s Chief Security Officer alerted the police that three students residing at Living Seed Lodge, located in a bushy area on the outskirts of the students’ residential community, had been abducted by unidentified armed men.

Nansel said the Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, immediately ordered the deployment of tactical teams, patrol operatives and other security personnel to the area.
