GENERAL SANTOS CITY, Philippines — A month after a magnitude 7.8 earthquake devastated parts of southern Mindanao on June 8, residents are slowly rebuilding their lives, holding on to hope amid the massive losses and trauma.

The scars left by the powerful quake remain visible across Soccsksargen (South Cotabato, Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani and General Santos) region, where lives were lost, homes destroyed, and communities forever changed. Yet amid the destruction, stories of resilience, recovery and renewed faith continue to emerge.
