Heavy rain lashed parts of Delhi, Noida and Gurugram in the early hours of Thursday, bringing relief from the recent humid weather but also causing waterlogging and disrupting normal life. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an Orange Alert for the national capital, warning of heavy rainfall across the region through most of the day.Continuous showers led to waterlogging in several parts of Delhi, including areas around New Delhi Railway Station and Munirka, affecting traffic movement during the morning rush.According to the IMD, fairly widespread to widespread rainfall is expected over Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and West Uttar Pradesh until July 10. A fresh spell of rain is also likely over Northeast Uttar Pradesh until July 13, while East Rajasthan is expected to receive heavy rainfall on July 9.The rainfall has brought much-needed relief from the sweltering humidity that residents had been experiencing over the past few days. The temperature in Delhi was recorded at around 25.8 degrees Celsius at 2:30 am with calm winds.The wet weather also prompted airlines to issue travel advisories, warning passengers about possible delays to flight operations.Air India said adverse weather conditions may affect flights to and from Delhi and advised passengers to check the latest flight status before leaving for the airport.In a post on social media, the airline said, "Adverse weather conditions may impact flight operations to and from Delhi. To ensure a smooth travel experience, we encourage our passengers to check the latest flight status before heading to the airport. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation."Similarly, IndiGo said bad weather over Delhi had affected flight schedules. The airline said it was closely monitoring the situation and making every effort to operate flights safely while requesting passengers to stay updated through its website or mobile app.Meanwhile, Akasa Air said the rain may impact flights across its network. "Due to heavy rainfall in Mumbai, Delhi, Pune and Goa some flights across our network may be delayed. We realize that this may inconvenience your travel plans and seek your patience and understanding. While this situation is completely beyond our control, please rest assured that our teams are always ready to assist you.
