Fran Santiago/Getty ImagesJuly 8, 2026 Updated Aurelien Tchouameni has signed a new contract with Real Madrid until 2031.The 26-year-old midfielder is currently on international duty with France at the World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico.His previous deal was set to expire in the summer of 2028 but he has committed his future to the Santiago Bernabeu club on fresh terms.Tchouameni joined Madrid on a six-year contract from Monaco in a deal worth over €100 million in the summer of 2022, as Madrid fended off interest from Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United.
He made 49 appearances for Madrid last season, including 33 in La Liga, and has played 195 times for the club across his four-year stay, scoring seven times.In May 2026, Tchouameni was involved in two training ground altercations with teammate Federico Valverde, with the latter being taken to hospital to undergo assessments after sustaining a head injury during the second incident. The pair were both fined €500,000.Tchouameni has appeared three times from a possible five games at the World Cup so far. He was selected for the squad ahead of Madrid teammate Eduardo Camavinga by Didier Deschamps.France take on Morocco in the tournament’s quarter-finals in Boston on Thursday.
