Geri Halliwell Horner has sparked rumours that she has blocked Melanie Brown on social media after celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Spice Girls song Wannabe16:37, 08 Jul 2026Updated 16:38, 08 Jul 2026Spice Girl fans speculate that Geri Halliwell Horner has blocked Melanie Brown on Instagram, after an anniversary post from Ginger Spice left just Scary Spice untagged.‌Geri, 53, shared a throwback black and white image on social media in celebration of the 30 year anniversary of their debut single, Wannabe, which was released in 1996 and reached number one in the charts across 37 countries.‌"30 Years of Wannabe …Thank you to my beautiful spice sisters @victoriabeckham officialmelb @melaniecmusic @emmaleebunton And thank you to the fans for joining us #FriendshipNeverEnds …" Geri captioned the post, notably mentioning Mel B, but failing to add an '@' symbol to actually tag her in the post.‌Immediately fans questioned this move. "Did you forget the tag @officialmelb?" asked on commenter. "Can you tag Mel B correctly? @gerihalliwellhorner " asked another. Some concluded that someone must have blocked the other. "Who blocked who?" asked one commenter. Another jokingly appealed to Geri's PA Pippe Beng: "Pippa unlock Mel B please!"‌Geri is not following Mel B on Instagram, and nor is Mel following Geri. However, Mel did tag Geri in her post celebrating 30 years of Wannabe.Mel B shared a similar post with the caption: "Zigazig ahhhh Yipppeeee", tagging all of the bandmates and the Spice Girls account in the image. The image showed the five part group all sitting on a red cushion sofa, all dressed in very different looks that highlighted their aler-egos, (Scary, Baby, Posh etc).‌This isn't the first time that Geri has made a bit of a blunder on social media when it comes to Mel B. In celebration of Mel's 49th birthday, Geri shared a throwback photo of herself with her bandmate. The images showed the duo in ’90s clothing at the height of their pop careers. But the caption was clearly published in haste with a message from Geri to her personal assistant still included in the post.‌"Sent images to Pippa and this wording asked her to tweak where needed. Happy Birthday @officialmelb ! Hope you have an amazing day!" the caption read. This was live for 24 minutes before the caption was hastily changed. In 2024, the Spice Girls had a rare reunion at Victoria Beckham’s 50th birthday. The girl band reunited for a spontaneous performance of their hit song Stop, even whipping out some of their original choreography while Victoria's son Cruz played the guitar. However, things may have become less friendly within the group since then, with Mel B admitting she was kicked out of the Whatsapp group with the girls after repeatedly suggesting the band reforms for the 30th anniversary.‌During an appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show in late 2025 she admitted: “We are wanting to do something and we are but I can't really tell you because I'll get kicked out of the WhatsApp group again so I have to be really careful. We're definitely doing something. I'm probably going to get told off! I'm in trouble now."I get kicked out of the group because I get so excited whenever I talk about Spice Girls and the more I say something's going to happen, I will it that much that it does happen like the Olympics and the 2019 tour."‌Geri and Mel reportedly fell out in 2019 after Mel said, while appearing on Life Stories episode with Piers Morgan, that they had sex while in the band. She added in the interview: "She’s going to hate me for this because she’s all posh in her country house and her husband. But it’s a fact. It just happened and we just giggled at it and that was it."This week, Mel C reflected on the duo's fractious relationship while speaking to Louis Theroux. She reflected that they were "really great mates if they had a fallout, it would affect everybody." She added: "I think because they were both so outspoken."The Mirror has reached out to Geri Halliwell Horner for comment.Article continues belowLike this story?
