Force feedback on the G920 comes from two motors mounted inside the wheel base, pushing against the shaft in opposite directions during play. The dual-motor system simulates the pull of tires losing grip on a wet corner, the resistance of a curb strike, and the weight of a car accelerating. Helical anti-backlash gears drive the shaft instead of straight-cut gears, keeping motor noise low enough to hear the game through the speakers.
Lock-to-lock rotation is 900 degrees, or two and a half full turns from one extreme to the other, which matches what a real F1 or rally car requires from the driver in fast hand-over-hand corners. A hall-effect steering sensor uses magnetic fields to track wheel position instead of a physical potentiometer, so the sensor never wears out with mileage. Solid steel ball bearings inside the shaft support the rotational load without play developing over years of use.
