Railway gatekeeper’s act of saving a man at level crossing earns appreciation from Mayiladuthurai SP

The timely act of a railway gatekeeper in saving a middle-aged man while he was crossing the track just when a passenger train was approaching speedily earned him appreciation from the Mayiladuthurai district police. The gatekeeper Sandeep Sagar who was on duty at the level crossing in Arasur near Sirkazhi in Mayiladuthurai district on Monday noticed a nearly 45-year-old man crossing the railway track carelessly when the Mayiladuthurai - Villupuram passenger train was fast approaching.Acting swiftly, the gatekeeper ran towards the man and saved him thereby averting a major tragedy. The level crossing comes under the jurisdiction of the Anaikaranchathram police station in the district.Appreciating his timely act, the Mayiladuthurai Superintendent of Police B. Bhukya Sneha Priya invited the gatekeeper to her office on Wednesday and lauded him. The SP presented a memento to the gatekeeper on the occasion.
