Broadcom shares rose more than 2% after Apple announced an expanded multi-year chip supply agreement with the company, deepening a long-running partnership around US-made components. Apple said the deal is expected to exceed $30 billion and will support the production of more than 15 billion chips in the US. The agreement also includes a $1.5 billion expansion of Broadcom’s facility in Fort Collins, Colorado. Apple did not say when the new capacity will come online. The deal marks Apple’s largest US manufacturing commitment so far and comes as the iPhone maker looks to build more of its supply chain within the country. According to Reuters, Broadcom will supply radiofrequency chips, including FBAR filters, used in Apple devices for wireless communication, under agreements running through at least 2031.Broadcom has supplied Apple with connectivity components for years. The new agreement expands that relationship around custom silicon made in the US. Apple said the components will help its devices connect to cellular, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth networks.Broadcom had earlier disclosed in a filing that it entered into new long-term agreements with Apple to develop and supply custom ASIC silicon products for multiple generations of Apple products through 2031. ASICs, or application-specific integrated circuits, are custom chips designed for specific tasks and are increasingly important in areas such as artificial intelligence and high-performance computing.Apple said the Fort Collins facility will play a key role in the expanded partnership. The company said the agreement advances its effort to help create an end-to-end silicon supply chain in the US. The commitment is part of Apple’s broader $600 billion, four-year US investment plan announced in 2025.Apple Chief Executive Tim Cook said the components made in Fort Collins are essential to the performance and connectivity that Apple users expect. He also thanked President Donald Trump and his administration for supporting the project.Broadcom CEO Hock Tan said Apple’s commitment will help the chipmaker expand its manufacturing footprint in Fort Collins. The deal is important for Broadcom because it gives the company long-term visibility from one of the world’s largest technology customers. Apple remains a major buyer of connectivity chips, and a supply agreement running through 2031 gives Broadcom a stable revenue base at a time when investors are closely tracking demand for custom silicon and AI-linked chips. The announcement also comes as chipmakers are trying to benefit from both AI demand and the push for local manufacturing in the US. Broadcom has already become one of the key names in custom silicon, supplying large customers with chips built for specific workloads. The Apple agreement adds another large, long-duration contract to that business.
