The Springbok Women’s heroics at last year’s World Cup will not be forgotten in a hurry, but defence coach Franzel September says they must regard it as a foundation for better things to come.

The Bok Women have reached 10th place on the World Rugby rankings after a decade on the wrong side of the standings, and their reward is attracting fixtures against Top 10 teams.

“After the positive review of the World Cup last year, and when we started this year, we said we want to play the top teams,” September said.

“And if you play the top teams, you need to make sure you are ready, and you have got your preparation right. So we did that against the [ninth-ranked] USA last Saturday (winning 34-21). If we keep on doing what we have done until now, by preparing well, the results will come.”
