NATO is transitioning its air policing mission in the Baltic states to an air defence mission, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda said on Wednesday from the alliance’s summit in Ankara.

“One of the fundamental outcomes of this summit is the reclassification of NATO’s air policing mission into a NATO air defence mission. This will substantially improve Lithuania’s air defence capabilities,” Nausėda said.
