The relationship between the father and son has been strained for several years, as they drifted apart when Harry and Meghan quit their royal roles in 2020 and relocated to California.Their relationship continued to deteriorate as Harry and Meghan levelled a number of serious accusations against the Firm and how they were treated while working within the Royal Family, most notably in their interview with Oprah in 2021, their Netflix docuseries in 2022, and Harry’s memoir Spare in 2023.Despite Harry expressing his disappointment in his family over the years, he has recently made moves to reconcile with his father, who was diagnosed with cancer in 2024.‌The pair most recently met in September 2025, when Harry was in the UK for the annual WellChild awards. During a four-day visit, the duke travelled to Clarence House where he had a 50-minute private tea with his father, marking their first face-to-face meeting in 20 months.And while many royal watchers were hoping for another reunion between the King and his son, such a meeting is looking more and more unlikely.
