T-Mobile has announced an executive reshuffle, as the company's chief business and product officer, Mike Katz, confirmed he will depart the carrier later this year.As part of the rejig, the carrier also revealed that former AT&T veteran Chris Sambar will join the company as chief enterprise officer later this year.The changes come nine months after Srini Gopalan took over as CEO at the carrier, with the telco noting the changes will lead T-Mobile into the 6G and AI era.T-Mobile noted that Katz has chosen to leave to "pursue new professional interests."Katz has been at T-Mobile for 28 years, working in a number of roles at the carrier, including EVP, T-Mobile for Business, president of T-Mobile's Business group, and chief marketing officer."We built a regional player into a national powerhouse, flipped the industry on its head with the Un-carrier movement, pulled off the Sprint merger, and pushed into broadband and enterprise," said Katz on LinkedIn. Katz's next role is not known.He will remain in a strategic advisory role through December 2026 to support the transition.While Katz is leaving T-Mobile, Sambar will be joining the carrier. He previously spent two decades at AT&T, during which time he supported the telco's 5G mobile network development as president of networks at AT&T. He also developed corporate strategy and led enterprise sales, including the design and deployment of the FirstNet public safety network."Chris is a seasoned wireless industry leader with proven experience, including expanding high-growth businesses and seizing market opportunities. He’s a terrific addition to T‑Mobile’s leadership team,” said Gopalan. Sambar will report to Gopalan in his role.T-Mobile also announced that André Almeida, currently chief broadband, enterprise & emerging business officer, is appointed to an expanded position as chief marketing, brand & broadband officer.This will see Almeida work with Jon Freier, chief operating officer, T-Mobile, to oversee the carrier's consumer wireless and broadband businesses.
