The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that, following the targeting of one of its liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers near the Strait of Hormuz, it summoned the Deputy Ambassador of the Islamic Republic and handed him Doha’s official note of protest.
In a statement published on X on Tuesday, July 7, the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned the attack on the tanker Al-Ruqayyat, calling it a serious violation of international maritime security, a direct threat to global energy supply security, and a blatant violation of international law.
According to the statement, Ibrahim bin Yousuf Fakhroo, Director of the Protocol Department at the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, delivered the country’s protest note during the summoning of Mohsen Mohammad Ghanei, Deputy Ambassador of the Islamic Republic in Doha.
In the note, Qatar expressed its categorical rejection of the attack, emphasizing that such actions undermine international maritime security and regional stability.
The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs further urged the Islamic Republic to immediately cease any actions that threaten regional security, refrain from jeopardizing international shipping security and global energy supplies, and provide an immediate explanation regarding the attack.
