Welcome one, welcome allBy Evening sports fans,Gotta love the smell of Origin, and let’s face it, NSW pessimism. The Blues have Queensland right where they want them – on their home track, enjoying overwhelming favouritism and basking in one of the most dominant 40 minutes in Origin history.Yep, right where they want them. We’ll try and keep things civil tonight. Believe it or not, the series is still 1-1, and it’s still a two-horse race. It’s also Origin. Where strange things happen. Maybe, some way, somehow, a NSW win? We’ll know more from approximately 8.05pm when the decider kicks off. Until then, we’ve got gibber. We’ve got hot takes. We’ve got stats. In short, we’ve got you covered. It’s an Origin decider, and fans have taken to Caxton Street ahead of kick-off.Audrey RichardsonLatest Posts6.19pmStats: To’o’s missing metres for NSWBy It’s been 10 days since Brian To’o was dropped and we still miss him. Best of luck to NSW rookie Jack Bostock of course. But the question that’s lingered all week remains – how do the Blues account for To’o’s yardage game coming out of trouble? He remains the best in the NRL at those all-important early carries, and no-one has made more metres for NSW since he made his Origin debut in 2021.6.07pmQ and A: Who will play their final Origin match tonight?By Who do you think will play their last Origin match tonight? My tips are James Tedesco, Mitchell Moses, Stephen Crichton, Reece Robson and Mitch Barnett - JimmyThat’s obviously dependent, in some cases, on the result – but either way I agree with you on a few of them. Tedesco will be 34 by next year’s series and with Dylan Edwards unlucky to miss out this year, it’s hard to see him going around again despite what he’s done in the past. Moses is also nearly 32 and even though he has a fine record it’ll be hard to keep Ethan Strange out next time around. I think Crichton has still got plenty of games left in him for NSW, but I’m with you on Robson and Barnett, who have been pretty ineffective in this series and would need big games tonight. On top of those you’ve mentioned, you can add Mark Nawaqanitawase, given he’s off to rugby, and here’s one from left field: Nathan Cleary. He is the best player in the game but hasn’t fully proven himself at Origin. As crazy as it sounds, the next NSW coach might have to try something else and with Cleary’s future up in the air beyond next season, who knows where he’ll end up.Will James Tedesco run out for his final Origin match at Suncorp Stadium tonight? Getty Images6.04pmPoll: Can NSW spring an Origin upset tonight?By 6.02pmStats: Daley is one from nine with victory in reachBy Laurie Daley will have to overcome an 11 per cent win record in Origin matches where NSW could have won the shield under his stewardship to engineer one of the biggest upsets in Blues history. An upset on Queensland soil would be his first win in a decider as coach in five attempts – NSW having lost deciders in 2013, 2015, 2017 and last year. The Blues have won the first match in five of the seven series Daley has been in charge. But only once – in the famous 2014 triumph – have they capitalised with a series-sealing victory in games two or three under his watch, making for the most unflattering of records with the Origin shield there to be won.Read the full story here.6.01pmOn the ground: Prime ministers galore in BrisVegasBy Christian Nicolussi and John BuckleyThe Sofitel Hotel where NSW is staying has been humming this afternoon, including a cameo by no fewer than four Prime Ministers, including Anthony Albanese.“Albo” was joined by his counterparts from Papua New Guinea – James Marape, Samoa – Laʻauli Leuatea Schmidt and Tonga – Lord Fakafanua, to sign off on a Pacific Rugby League Partnership, which will encourage kids in the region to go to school — otherwise they cannot play the greatest game of all.Marape told Albo he wanted the Chiefs’ first game in 2028 to be in Port Moresby — and against the Australian PM’s beloved Rabbitohs.Anthony Albanese and Samoan Prime Minister Laʻauli Leuatea Schmidt.
