Paramount+ has released the first trailer for Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender, offering fans their first proper look at the long-awaited sequel to Nickelodeon’s acclaimed animated series. Alongside the trailer, the streamer confirmed that the film’s release has been moved up to July 25, several months ahead of its previously announced October launch.Set years after the events of Avatar: The Last Airbender, the film reunites audiences with Aang, Katara, Sokka, Toph, and Zuko as adults. Having helped end the Hundred Year War, the group is now working to preserve the fragile peace they fought to achieve while rebuilding a world still recovering from decades of conflict. The trailer introduces the story’s biggest mystery in Tagah, a previously unknown airbender voiced by Dave Bautista. Like Aang, Tagah appears to have survived for generations trapped inside an iceberg, offering new hope for the revival of the nearly extinct Air Nomad civilisation. According to the official synopsis, Aang discovers an ancient power that could restore his people, sending the Gaang on a globe-spanning adventure before that power falls into dangerous hands.Eric Nam voices the adult Aang, joined by Jessica Matten as Katara, Román Zaragoza as Sokka, Dionne Quan as Toph, Steven Yeun as Zuko, and Bautista as Tagah. The film marks the first feature from Avatar Studios, the division launched by Nickelodeon in 2021 to expand the Avatar universe through new films and television projects. Animation is handled by Flying Bark Productions and Studio Mir, with the trailer showcasing large-scale bending battles and cinematic visuals. After Paramount’s decision to abandon a theatrical release drew heavy criticism from fans, the film’s rollout suffered another blow when an unfinished version surfaced online months before its official premiere. Paramount is now set to showcase additional footage during its Hall H presentation at San Diego Comic-Con ahead of the film’s premiere.Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender begins streaming exclusively on Paramount+ on July 25. Indian distribution is yet to be announced. Published - July 08, 2026 12:09 pm IST
