JSW Utkal Steel has signed an agreement with the Odisha Government to develop captive jetty at Jatahar Muhan in Jagatsinghpur district. The project will be developed through JSW Infrastructure’s wholly-owned subsidiary JSW Jatadhar Marine Services on a build, own, operate, share and transfer model.In June, 2025, JSW Utkal Steel made an application to the Government of Odisha for approval to novate the concession agreement for development of the captive jetty in favour of JSW Jatadhar Marine Services for implementing the aforesaid Project.After a year later, on June 18, 2026 the Odisha Government accorded its approval to JSW Utkal for novation of the said concession agreement in favour of JSW Jatadhar.Subsequently, a novation agreement has been executed between JSW Utkal and JSW Jatadhar, for the development of captive jetty, said the company in a statement without quantifying the amount of investment required for the project.India’s maritime sector is currently undergoing a structural shift towards privatized port management. The Odisha coastline, being the gateway to the mineral-rich hinterland, is becoming a hotspot for ultra-large capacity berths. The company’s wholly-owned subsidiary JSW Utkal Steel will execute the project at Paradip, Jagatsinghpur district.Spread over 2,678-acre plant in Dhinkia, the project includes two blast furnaces, a 900 MW captive power plant, a 10 MTPA cement grinding unit and a captive jetty at Paradip port.Additionally, JSW Steel and South Korea’s POSCO have formed a 50:50 joint venture to build a 6 MTPA greenfield steel plant in Odisha with an investment of about ₹35,000 crore by 2031. Initially, it will developed on an 887-acre land parcel held by JSW’s subsidiary, Saffron Resources, in Odisha.Published on July 8, 2026
