The Nigerian military has announced the surrender of two high-profile terrorist commanders in the North-East, describing the development as another significant breakthrough in its ongoing counter-terrorism campaign while reaffirming its commitment to sustain offensive operations against insurgents across the region.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Acting Media Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni.
According to the statement, the two senior terrorist commanders surrendered to troops of Sector 2 in Geidam on July 4, 2026, before arriving in Maiduguri at about 7:30 p.m. on July 5.
The military said the suspects are currently in custody and undergoing profiling, debriefing and intelligence exploitation.
