A US teenager has been arrested in Finland for allegedly participating in the high-profile cyber-extortion activities of the Scattered Spider hacking group that is also believed have been involved in high-profile attacks in the UK last year affecting Marks & Spencer, the Co-op and Jaguar Land Rover.

Peter Stokes, 19, who holds both US and Estonian citizenship, was extradited to the US to face federal criminal conspiracy charges in Illinois federal court, the US Justice Department said.

He was arrested by Finnish authorities after Interpol issued a Red Notice, and was extradited last month, making an initial appearance in Chicago federal court last week, on Tuesday, 30 June.
