Without sufficient substations, charging points cannot be developed,” he said.Sim was responding to a supplementary question from Kubang Pasu MP Datuk Wira Dr Ku Abd Rahman Ku Ismail, who raised concerns over the shortage of EV charging facilities and asked about the government’s measures to address the issue in line with Malaysia’s net zero greenhouse gas emissions target.Sim said EVs remained a relatively new technology, with governments worldwide still adapting policies, incentives and approaches to support the expansion of charging infrastructure. He said developing a complete EV ecosystem required more than increasing vehicle adoption, but also involved appropriate policies, incentives and infrastructure investment.“While the process will take time, the government acknowledges the concerns raised and will continue improving efforts,” he added.
