Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered a woman suffering from serious injuries.‌They began life-saving measures, applying tourniquets in an attempt to stem the bleeding until paramedics arrived, according to the police.The woman was in a critical condition when she was taken to hospital and subsequently died from her injuries. Police confirmed that Moore Animal Control later removed the dog from her home, reports the Mirror US.‌"The Moore Police Department extends its thoughts and condolences to everyone impacted by this tragic incident," the department said following the incident.According to KFOR, the dog was later put down. A statement from Moore Animal Control identified the dog as a mixed breed."The dog was identified by shelter staff as a Labrador retriever with a crossbreed of American pit bull terrier. Breed identity was based on observed physical characteristics. The dog remained quarantined at the Moore animal shelter until it was euthanized 07/06/2026," the department shared. KFOR reported that Carruth had been looking after the dog while her son, Jason Clay Ingram, was behind bars.‌Court records reveal that Ingram was arrested on 11 May for allegedly strangling his mother and severing telephone cables at her property as she tried to call 911.Carruth's relatives note that several days following that incident, the dog attacked Carruth, resulting in her hospitalisation for multiple days.
