Laura Loomer, right-wing personality and noted ally of President Donald Trump, was brutally fact-checked on social media after she tried to suggest something lascivious about a photo posted by Sen. Mark Kelly (D-Ariz).Loomer posted a picture from Kelly’s Instagram on Monday showing him with a woman and a group of Mexico soccer fans who were planning to watch the team’s World Cup match against England. Without evidence, Loomer attempted to cast doubt on who the woman in the picture was, seemingly suggesting that the senator was publicly broadcasting an extramarital affair.“Who is this woman that Arizona Democrat Senator Mark Kelly @SenMarkKelly was getting handsy with yesterday while he was sporting Mexico’s jersey during the World Cup game?” Loomer wrote on X. Former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.) – who is also Kelly’s wife – quickly clapped back at Loomer, seemingly confirming it was her in the picture. “Well, she looks pretty great to me @captmarkkelly,” Giffords wrote. Loomer also made disparaging comments about the injuries Giffords suffered when she was shot in the head during a 2011 campaign event in Tucson. “A US Senator who represents a BORDER STATE wearing Mexico’s jersey is bad enough, but I thought he was ‘super loyal’ to his medically brain dead wife who was shot in the head?” Loomer wrote. ”@GabbyGiffords this doesn’t look like you. Who is the other woman?” Giffords is not “brain dead” as Loomer claimed, but rather suffers from aphasia, a speech condition that affects many stroke and traumatic brain injury survivors.
