Assistant Police Commissioner Leausalilo Norman Meni has urged drivers to slow down and obey the speed limit, warning that too many motorists are speeding on the roads.

In an interview with the Samoa Observer, Leausalilo stressed that the public should be reminded to drive safely, especially with many meetings and gatherings taking place around the country.

He said there are also many tourists visiting Samoa during this time and said that there are a lot of conferences and meetings happening in Samoa right now, and that drivers must be more careful on the roads.

“There are too many drivers going fast,” he said. Leausalilo reminded motorists to observe the 56kph speed limit around the island, be patient, and take extra care around pedestrians and other road users.

He also urged members of the public to look after their personal belongings while attending public gatherings.
