A Lagos State Magistrates’ Court has granted TikTok streamer Habeeb “Peller” Hamzat bail for ₦500,000 in a case involving the Lagos State Police Command.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed to PREMIUM TIMES that the content creator was arrested and subsequently arraigned before the court on Monday. Peller and his friend, Bello Oladipo, appeared in court over an incident that occurred on 2 July along the Coastal Road in Lekki, Lagos.
The pair faced three charges: resisting police officers, obstructing officers from carrying out their duties, and allegedly threatening and recording police personnel whilst they performed lawful duties.
According to a report in the Leadership newspaper on Tuesday, the court granted bail to the 21-year-old and Oladipo, each requiring two sureties. The court directed that one of the sureties must be a blood relative, and both must provide tax clearance certificates covering the previous two years.
