A man had died while riding an inflatable with his two children off the coast of Hampshire after a jet-ski crashed into them. The man, in his fifties, was taken to hospital following the incident on Sunday evening, which happened at around 6pm. Hampshire Police were called to the scene near Calshot Activity Centre following reports that a man was struggling in the sea in the New Forest. Ambulance crews were also at the scene, as well as lifeguards from the RNLI and a coastguard rescue team.The coastguard confirmed that the jet-ski rider and two children were brought to shore safely, while the adult on the inflatable needed treatment.Police have now confirmed that the man, whose identity has not yet been revealed, died on Monday.It is understood the man collapsed on his way back to shore.Officers say his next of kin have been informed and a file will be prepared for the coroner. Access points were closed from the far right of the car park down to the activity centre car park.Hampshire Constabulary asked members of the public to avoid the area following what was described as a 'concern for welfare incident'.The force said that the nearby activity centre was closed down during the rescue, before it later confirmed it had been reopened. Enquiries into the circumstances of Sunday’s incident are ongoing.
