Bhavani MLA and former AIADMK Minister K.C. Karuppannan on Tuesday (July 7, 2026) said the party was open to welcoming back leaders who had left it and claimed that some former Ministers now in the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) were likely to return.Addressing reporters after a consultative meeting of the party’s labour wing here, Mr. Karuppannan said the AIADMK was working to bring back those who had left the party. Asked whether the move would include T.T.V. Dhinakaran and V.K. Sasikala, he said there was a possibility of their return, and added that any decision on the matter would be taken by AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami.Mr. Karuppannan, who is also the district secretary of the party’s Erode suburban (East) unit, alleged that some former AIADMK Ministers who had joined the TVK were unhappy with their decision and could return to the AIADMK. He further alleged that those who had left the AIADMK had done so not because of differences with the party leadership, but to protect their personal interests and assets, and to evade the legal cases pending against them.Stating that it was common for politicians to switch parties when there was a change in government, Mr. Karuppannan said that while a few former Ministers had joined the TVK, the AIADMK’s cadre had remained loyal to the party.Referring to the Transport Department workers, Mr. Karuppannan alleged that employees associated with the AIADMK had been subjected to vindictive transfers by the TVK government. He claimed that workers from Gobichettipalayam and Kavundapadi had been transferred to the TNSTC depots in the Annur region of Coimbatore district, and said the party would initiate legal proceedings to secure their reinstatement at their original places of posting.
