Minister for Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments C. Ramesh on Tuesday said that the Departments of HR&CE and Tourism would take joint efforts to promote the State heritage, divinity, architecture and culture associated with the temples in the State.Speaking to reporters after receiving petitions from the residents of Srirangam and Thiruvanaikoil, Mr. Ramesh said that details were being worked out on the areas to be promoted jointly. It would aim at promoting and preserving the heritage value of the historical temples in the State. Similarly, announcements would be made in the State budget for creating basic facilities in the temples across the State. A scheme of carrying out repairs and renovations in the temples, which were not given due importance so far will be announced. Dilapidated mandapams, gopurams and temple cars of the popular and uncared-for temples would be renovated.To a question, the Minister said that the fee structure of darshan at Subramanya Swamy Temple at Thiruchendur had not been increased. Suggestions had been sought on whether to increase the fee structure or not. If the suggestions were not in favour, the fee structure would not be increased. However, some vested interest persons had been spreading false information that fees were increased. The TVK government would not take decisions affecting the people.The renovation work of Eastern Gopuram of Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple would be completed soon. He had held discussions with the officials and other stakeholders in this regard.Mr. Ramesh said as per the instructions of Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, he had held a public grievances camp for the people of Srirangam and Thiruvanaikoil. Most of the petitions were for patta transfer, old age pension, water and housing facilities and basic infrastructure in their areas. They would be directed to the concerned departments for speedy actions. He would closely follow the action on petitions.
