July 7 (UPI) -- Coco Gauff continued her grass-court resurgence with a win over Jessica Pegula on Tuesday in London to reach her first Wimbledon singles semifinal.
Gauff ousted the fellow American 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 in the Centre Court quarterfinal. She topped Pegula 7-2 in aces and 25-15 in winners. She also converted each of her five break point opportunities in the 1-hour, 48-minute match.
"I'm just happy to get through to the semis," Gauff said on the ESPN broadcast. "I think after seven years playing this tournament, it's finally the first time I could walk on Center Court and I didn't feel nervous."
Gauff, who entered Wimbledon 2026 without a grass-court victory since 2024, started her All-England Club surge with a June 29 straight-sets win over German Tamara Korpatsch. She beat each of her next four foes in three sets.
