The Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, has cautioned newly appointed judges of the lower courts against accepting unsolicited gifts, warning that doing so could land them in trouble.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of an induction course for new judges, the CJN tasked them with ensuring the speedy and fair determination of cases before them.

She stressed that only expeditious hearing of cases would ensure the continued confidence of litigants in the judiciary.

Represented at the event by the Administrator of the National Judicial Institute (NJI), Justice Babatunde Adejumo, the CJN emphasised the importance of synergy between judges and court officials, especially the registrars and exhibit keepers.
