Quantum Systems Group announced on July 5, 2026 (Sunday) that it is pursuing multiple speed records in electric flight and drone technology, with projects underway in Germany and Ukraine. According to the company’s press release, the efforts include a world record attempt for the fastest battery-electric flying object and two planned Ukrainian national records for interceptor drones.In Germany, Quantum Systems’ N3XT Department reported that its Apex Recordhunter aircraft reached a top speed of 699 km/h in straight and level flight during internal testing on June 26, 2026. It is important to note that the speed record remains unofficial, with formal confirmation still pending.According to online platform Tom's Hardware, verification requires the presence of a certified independent observer, the use of approved measurement equipment, proper documentation and submission, and a controlled two-way run to validate the result. The certification attempt is expected to take place in the coming weeks.During field testing on June 26, Germany's Quantum Systems N3XT team clocked its Apex Recordhunter drone at 699 km/h (434 mph) in level flight. This world best for a battery-powered aircraft now awaits FAI certification along with two more records pending from the company’s Ukrainian arm.The Apex Recordhunter has been developed over the past year as a technology demonstrator, with innovations intended to support future high-speed interceptor drone programs.Meanwhile, WIY Drones, part of the Quantum Systems Group in Ukraine, is preparing to attempt two national speed records next week. The planned records include the STRILA Interceptor, which will seek the highest speed achieved by an FPV interceptor drone carrying a 0.5 kg payload, and the SPYS system, which will target the highest speed achieved by an anti-aircraft class FPV interceptor drone. The press release noted that these initiatives build on WIY’s operational experience and its role in developing systems designed to counter fast and maneuverable aerial threats.
