The clay sculpture of Ricky Gervais' most famous character commemorates 25 years since The Office UK originally graced British television.‌Created on behalf of Premier Inn, the artwork is displayed at the hotel on Slough Trading Estate.‌The Premier Inn now stands on the site of Crossbow House, the former building whose exterior was used as Wernham Hogg (David Brent’s office) in The Office UK opening credits.‌The new installation was revealed by Brent lookalike Tim Oliver, who recreated the iconic pose along with some of the character's trademark dance routines that propelled Berkshire-born creator Gervais to worldwide stardom.The bust, created by Gareth Knowles, took 120 hours to put together and weighs seven kilograms. It will be a permanent installation at the site.‌A spokesperson for the hotel chain said: "We're thrilled to unveil this brilliant tribute to mark its place in British comedy history."Ricky's iconic character truly put Slough on the map, and it's only fitting to honour him with this memorable statue, which we hope will be particularly popular with some of the millions of business travellers who stay with us each year."Whilst the building itself is totally transformed – our guests are more likely to be interested in pillows than photocopiers – eagle-eyed fans will certainly spot the similarity in the footprint of the site."‌Crossbow House (below) was demolished in 2013 and redeveloped into a Premier Inn a few years later.The much-loved sitcom charted the journey of character David Brent from his role as regional manager at a paper merchant to his adventures as a roaming sales representative.‌The hotel firm also commissioned a survey of 2,000 adults which revealed David Brent's memorable Comic Relief dance as the standout moment from the series.It secured 26% of votes from The Office devotees, with Dawn coming back to the Christmas party to kiss Tim in the festive episode taking second place (15%).Article continues belowNearly three quarters of viewers who tuned into the programme regard it as a nostalgic glimpse of workplace culture in the early 2000s.
