Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik told the legislative assembly on Tuesday that the Maharashtra government will make a domicile certificate mandatory for obtaining a driving licence from August 1, 2026, as part of a new policy to streamline the licensing process. He said the proposal outlining the new driving licence rules has been sent to the Law and Judiciary Department for approval and will be implemented once it receives the necessary clearance.Responding to a question raised by MLA Dilip Lande during Question Hour, Sarnaik also said the government is taking action against unauthorised bike taxi services while simultaneously working on a regulatory framework to legalise and regulate the sector, generate revenue for the state, and create employment opportunities for young people.Read More: AAP Convener Arvind Kejriwal urges Centre to offer E20, E10 and E0 fuel options at petrol pumps
