Markets held their morning gains through midday trade on Tuesday, with the Nifty 50 at 24,461.05, up 30.70 points or 0.13 per cent, and the Sensex at 78,405.79, up 120.72 points or 0.15 per cent, as of 12.40 PM. The session has been marked by a sharp rotation into information technology stocks and continued weakness in metals, infrastructure and select consumer names.Broader market breadth on BSE remained positive, with 4,158 stocks advancing against 1,516 declines and 2,444 unchanged. A notable 198 stocks hit 52-week highs against 63 at 52-week lows, while 132 stocks were locked in upper circuits and 159 in lower circuits. Nifty’s Advance-Decline ratio stood at 30:20, reflecting a moderately positive session.The IT pack, which had lagged in Monday’s rally, emerged as the standout performer in midday trade. Infosys topped the Nifty gainers, surging 3.57 per cent to ₹1,079.40, followed by HCL Technologies, which climbed 2.93 per cent to ₹1,167.40. Tech Mahindra gained 2.73 per cent to ₹1,444.90, making it three of the top five gainers from the technology sector. SBI Life Insurance advanced 2.60 per cent to ₹1,834.10, while Titan rose 2.43 per cent to ₹4,593.20, adding consumer and financial services support to the day’s gains.Trent was the session’s biggest casualty, plunging 11.82 per cent to ₹2,948.50 from its previous close of ₹3,343.80, making it the sharpest single-stock decline on the Nifty 50. Coal India fell 1.60 per cent to ₹425.45, Hindalco shed 1.59 per cent to ₹964.85, and Adani Enterprises declined 1.54 per cent to ₹3,157.30. Larsen & Toubro slipped 1.46 per cent to ₹3,982.10, pulling the infrastructure segment lower.On the commodities front, MCX Gold opened weak, slipping below ₹1,46,000, with recovery requiring a move above ₹1,47,000. MCX Silver also fell below the ₹2,34,000 support level, with further downside possible toward ₹2,30,000 on a break below ₹2,32,000. COMEX Gold faces resistance near $4,200, while COMEX Silver slipped below $62. MCX Crude Oil is consolidating between ₹6,550–₹6,600, with analysts flagging Middle East and Strait of Hormuz developments as the key variable for near-term direction. US Oil remains range-bound in the $68–$69 zone. The USD/INR pair continues to trade near ₹95.3, consolidating in the ₹95.2–₹95.37 band with near-term bias remaining cautious.SBI Securities flagged the 24,380–24,400 zone as immediate support for Nifty, with resistance at 24,630–24,650. A breakout above 24,650 could extend the rally toward 24,850, while a slip below 24,380 opens downside toward 24,230–24,250. India VIX remained below the 12-mark for the third consecutive session, keeping the volatility environment benign. For Sensex, support is pegged at 78,200 and resistance at 79,000. Bank Nifty, which opened near 58,572 by breaking above its 58,400–58,500 resistance zone, now needs to sustain above 58,500 to target 58,700–58,800 and eventually the 59,000 mark.
