Kochi is set to host Codex Nightline, positioned as the world’s first AI build sprint inside a moving metro system. Codex is OpenAI’s coding agent for software development, helping builders move faster from idea to working prototype.At Codex Nightline, participants will use Codex to build AI-powered products from scratch within a high-pressure, time-bound format.The event will bring together around 100 curated solo builders for an overnight technology experience aboard an exclusive after-hours Kochi Metro train on July 18.Unlike a traditional hackathon held in a classroom, auditorium, or convention space, Codex Nightline will use the metro journey itself as the build window. Participants will board from Vyttila Metro Station after regular metro operations and take part in an approximately two-hour round-trip AI build sprint inside the moving metro.The event is being led by Vaishakh Suresh, OpenAI Codex Ambassador for Kochi, and is organized by Codex Community Kochi in association with Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL).During the ride, builders will work against the clock as the train moves through the city, creating practical prototypes across themes such as urban mobility, civic and community tools, everyday productivity, and local business and creator tools. After the round trip, participants will return to the venue at Vyttila for submission checks, showcase review, final presentations, judging, and winner announcements.Codex Nightline aims to turn Kochi Metro into a live innovation lab for one night, blending AI, mobility, public infrastructure, and Kerala’s growing developer ecosystem. The event also highlights Kochi Metro’s role as a forward-thinking public transport system open to new forms of youth innovation, technology engagement, and community-led experimentation, he said.The initiative is expected to bring together developers, students, creators, mentors, judges, organizers, and media teams for a high-energy overnight experience.
