SportFootballBelgium football teamThe USA were handed a reprieve with Folarin Balogun allowed to play in their World Cup clash with Belgium - but it didn't stop the Europeans running riot as they took aim at FIFA's decision07:06, 07 Jul 2026Updated 07:06, 07 Jul 2026Belgium produced the perfect response to FIFA's Folarin Balogun intervention by posting "overturn this" following their 4-1 victory in the World Cup.‌The build up to their clash with the hosts was overshadowed by off-pitch issues as the Americans saw Balogun's red card decision suspended for 12 months, meaning the striker could play, but the move only came about after a call from Donald Trump to FIFA boss Gianni Infantino.‌Belgium didn't let that alter their game plan however as they smashed four pasts in the hosts to march into the last eight - and fired a parting message on social media.‌Alongside pictures of Romelu Lukaku celebrating, they posted their two-word comment with the USA's hopes of making any more inroads at their own World Cup well and truly over.Balogun being made available led to the Belgian FA launching an appeal - which was subsequently rejected by FIFA. They insisted they would take the matter further, irrespective of the result of the game, with their next move yet to be confirmed.The former Arsenal striker started for the USA, but failed to make much of an impact with the American goal coming through Malik Tilman, who had equalised on the half-hour mark.
