Greece has begun consultations with Lockheed Martin on the possible acquisition of the US-made Precision Strike Missile (PrSM), as Athens seeks to strengthen its long-range artillery capabilities, Kathimerini understands.

Sources said that, following an initial meeting in Paris at the Eurosatory arms exhibition, officials from the Greek Armed Forces and Lockheed Martin are expected to meet in Athens next week to prepare a letter of request to Washington, the first step toward a potential intergovernmental arms agreement.

The PrSM is a tactical ballistic missile with a reported range exceeding 500 kilometers, capable of carrying out precision strikes deep inside enemy territory. Its acquisition would complement Greece’s recent procurement of Israeli PULS rocket artillery systems.

The sources said the Armed Forces could have the system in operational service before 2030.

The proposal under discussion would involve upgrading 15 of Greece’s 36 M270 multiple-launch rocket systems to the A2 configuration, making them compatible with the PrSM. The army is also reportedly considering acquiring 15 new HIMARS launchers, potentially the latest HIMARS FLEX variant, while selling 15 older M270 systems to help finance the program
