The former Liverpool captain injured his arm after falling awkwardly from the advertising hoardings following the Three Lions’ memorable victory against Mexico at the Azteca.‌He was given oxygen by England medical staff before being stretchered off. Henderson has since stayed behind in Mexico to undergo surgery to correct the issue.‌Despite that, he is expected to stay around the squad for the remainder of the tournament in a non-playing capacity. Former England captain Rooney has now offered his thoughts and believes his influence would have been a big loss should he have chosen to fly home instead.‌Speaking on the BBC, he said: “I was thinking about this before when he got picked for the squad, he’s such a powerful voice in the dressing room. I personally would have gone with someone like Adam Wharton to help with his development.“But he’s such an important voice and Thomas Tuchel believed he can have a real impact with the squad. It will be a loss certainly and I hope he gets well soon because it looks like a nasty injury.”England boss Thomas Tuchel gave an update on Henderson immediately after the victory against Mexico. I don't know the procedure."Jude Bellingham also spoke out on Henderson’s unfortunate injury. He said: "He is in a bit of bother, but our medical team have everything under control. I'm not best to give too much detail as I do not know much going on, but everyone was there to support him."‌The FA are likely to offer a fresh update on Henderson’s condition over the coming days as they kick off their preparations for the clash with Norway.
