Noida: A 26-year-old man, celebrating a birthday party at a farmhouse in Sector 135, died late Sunday night after allegedly drowning in a swimming pool, police said on Monday.The cause of death was not revealed in the post-mortem report. No superficial injuries were found on the body. (Representational image)Police identified the deceased as Lucky Sanvau, originally from Manipur, who resided in Noida’s Wajidpur area. He worked at a private company in the same city.According to police, they were informed around 2.30am from a hospital that a man had died due to drowning. “On visiting the hospital, it came to light that the victim had visited a farmhouse to celebrate a friend’s birthday. During the party, at around 12am, the man allegedly drowned while swimming. His friends fished him out of the pool and rushed him to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead,” a police officer involved in the investigation told HT.Police said the exact sequence of events leading to the death remain to be ascertained, as the family members of the deceased have not raised any suspicion as yet. The post-mortem was conducted in the presence of his family members on Monday.“The cause of death was not revealed in the post-mortem report. No superficial injuries were found on the body. Prima-facie it is suspected that he suffered an attack. However, viscera has been preserved to ascertain the cause of death,” said Amit Khari, station house officer, Expressway.Police said that statements of the deceased’s friends, family members and farmhouse staff will be recorded to ascertain the actual chain of events and circumstances leading to his death.Police are also scanning CCTV footage. No case has been registered and further investigation is underway, it added.
