Locals in one of Britain's oldest villages fear it will be turned 'into a prison' if plans are approved for a giant solar farm the size of 200 football pitches.
Some 132,000 unsightly panels are threatened for the land around Brailsford, Derbyshire, and residents believe it would spoil their rural lifestyle.
Brailsford is one of the oldest villages in the country and was named in the Domesday Book in 1086 when it had a population of just 24.
British Solar Renewables (BSR) has now submitted an application to install large panels on almost 300 acres of farmland just to the east of the dwelling.
The land, which is owned by the aristocratic Chichester family, would be leased out to BSR for decades to come.
