Aussies have become obsessed with collecting travel points after discovering that in some cases, it can fund entire trips and getaways. As such, travellers are cashing in loyalty rewards to elevate their trips and keep costs down. The trend is being reflected in the rapid growth of Luxury Escapes’ loyalty program, Société, which has amassed more than 1.53 million active members since launching in April 2025.Co-founder & CEO Adam Schwab said the program was designed to challenge the diminishing value often associated with traditional rewards programs by allowing members to redeem points on experiences they genuinely want.“While some travellers do save up their points for the big-ticket trip, we’re seeing more and more members going for instant gratification and using Société Points within weeks or months of earning them,” Mr Schwab said.Marcia Aqui, from Sydney, is one of them. She collected 140,000 points as a Société member when embarking on Luxury Escapes’ bucket-list experience that saw her go on a private plane around nine European countries in April this year.“It was amazing,” the 66-year-old simply said, adding “we had access to airports and routes commercial airlines don’t go such as the Champagne wine region”. Off the back of the 25-day trip which she only just returned, she wasted no time using her points to book a weekend away for her wedding anniversary at the Hydro Majestic in the Blue Mountains. She was able to secure two nights including breakfast, dinner and nightly cocktails at the newly revamped hotel for around 139,000 points.“I get a real kick out of using points whether they are airline rewards or Société points, it’s a bit like the thrill of finding forgotten money in your jacket or jeans pocket,” she joked.“When we got home from our recent Europe trip, the points were already in my account, so I put them straight towards our next holiday.”Marcia, who is off to Greece next year for a wedding, said she’s thrilled she’s still got points to use towards upgrading her hotel room in Crete.“There’s no point letting them sit there when we can use them for a free weekend away and making our Greece stay even better. It’s money for jam really.”Mr Schwab said he loves seeing members redeem points for experiences that make a real difference to their trip.“Travel is all about creating memorable experiences and Société gives members more opportunities to enjoy the little luxuries that can elevate a holiday from great to unforgettable.”The Melbourne-based travel company has just launched a Triple Société Points campaign, giving members the opportunity to fast track free holidays, upgrades and other holiday experiences on eligible bookings for the entire month of July.Other program partners offering both earn and redemption include Medibank and Hubby eSim, with the launch of a Société Credit Card and other new partners coming soon.
