The Plateau State Government has procured about 500 truckloads of fertiliser for the 2026 farming season and approved a subsidy that reduces the cost of a 50kg bag to ₦20,000 for farmers across the state’s 17 local government areas.

The state governor, Caleb Mutfwang, announced the intervention in Jos on Monday, describing it as part of his administration’s commitment to agricultural transformation, food security and economic empowerment.

In a statement issued by his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Dr Gyang Bere, the governor said the initiative was designed to ease the burden of rising production costs and boost agricultural output.

“The Plateau State Government has procured approximately 500 truckloads of fertiliser for distribution to farmers across the 17 Local Government Areas of the state.
