New Delhi: Congress on Monday said Viswa Hindu Parishad (VHP) approaching the UP Police, seeking questioning of Opposition leaders for verifying evidence for alleging donation embezzlement at Ayodhya Ram temple, "is a classic case of the pot calling the kettle black". Congress asked why VHP was not seeking action against those who ran the temple trust while the theft was taking place. Also Read: Ram Mandir donation row: Trust says it received Rs 3,264 crore in donations, spent Rs 2,370 crore on temple"The same VHP that had in the past faced allegations by the Nirmohi Akhara of a ₹1,400 crore Ram Mandir scam is demanding that Opposition leaders who questioned the alleged loot be interrogated. The demand is as absurd as it is shameless. Having itself come under the scanner, VHP has neither the moral authority nor credibility to point fingers at the Opposition," said AICC general secretary (org) KC Venugopal.Pointing out that the trust was set up by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Champat Rai is VHP vice president and RSS Pracharak and the temple construction trust head is a former principal secretary to the PM, Venugopal said: "Then, how are Priyankaji, Akhileshji or other Opposition leaders even relevant to this matter?"
