These rechargeable and compact repellers work by aerating a DEET-free and scent-free solution to repel mosquitoes within a 20-foot radius.

HuffPost senior editor Shonitria Anthony lives in Georgia, where, according to her, mosquitoes feast on humans for fun, and her patio is no exception.

“The mosquitoes made eating al fresco impossible. Until I discovered the Thermacell rechargeable mosquito repeller. It really works! It creates an invisible barrier of about 20 feet, and it holds well,” Anthony said in earlier HuffPost reporting.

“I’m in the mountains, surrounded by mosquitos the size of small birds, and yet I’m sitting there, unbothered, enjoying the view,” describes a reviewer. “The Thermacell created a bug-free zone that felt like a luxury suite in mosquito hell.”

Sonja Swiger, an entomology professor at Texas A&M University, also agreed that Thermacell-like options or space-filling devices have been found to be effective and recommended them as a potential repelling option for anyone looking to avoid mosquitoes in their area.
