A 14-year-old girl whose body was found in a park is believed to have died from multiple stab wounds - as a boy, 14, was charged with her murder. Lilly Anne Jones's body was found in the Duffryn Park area of Blaina, south Wales on June 22 after being reported missing two days earlier. She was found with injuries to her chest and neck, an inquest at Gwent Coroner's Court heard today. A 14-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared at Cardiff Crown Court last month accused of murdering Lilly.Lilly, from Blaina, was reported missing from her home on the evening of June 20, the coroner's court heard. She was found soon after 10pm on June 22 in a woodland location near the bowls club. The injuries were later confirmed to be stab wounds to her chest and neck. She was pronounced dead at 10.45pm, the court heard.A post-mortem examination was conducted by Dr Richard Jones, who provided a provisional cause of death. Lilly, from Blaina, was reported missing from her home on the evening of June 20, the coroner's court heard Lilly's body was found in Pilgrims Park, Blaina, soon after 10pm on June 22 in a woodland location near the bowls club Drones were sent up as part of the police search before the body was found around half a mile from where she was last seen near a waterside walk Senior coroner Caroline Saunders said: 'The medical cause of death... is multiple stab wounds to the neck and trunk.'The coroner set a provisional inquest date of April 6 2027.Lilly was last seen in High Street, Blaina, at around 6.50pm on June 20.Lilly's mother, Gemma Jones, put out an appeal saying she was hoping her daughter had gone to Cardiff, before pleading: 'Please bring my baby back home.'Her aunt, Zoe Jones, wrote: '[She] went out at 6.30 and hasn’t come home – very much out of character. Lilly please come home my girl, I promise you’re not in any trouble … we just want you home.'Drones were sent up as part of the police search before the body was found around half a mile from where she was last seen near a waterside walk.Parts of Pilgrims Park, near Blaina, were cordoned off after her body was discovered. People from miles around have turned up to lay flowers against a tree trunk at the entrance to Duffryn Park where Lilly was found dead.Katherine Watkins, 37, and her five-year-old daughter Harper went to get a bouquet in nearby Abergavenny and the florist didn't charge them when she was told it was for Lilly.Harper's stepdad, retired undertaker Kevin Brown, 61, of Brynmawr, Blaenau Gwent, said: 'Harper had heard us talking about what happened to Lilly and she said she wanted to lay some flowers.'This tragedy has touched people from far and wide. It's an awful thing to happen.'Pensioner Tracey Bennett wiped away tears as she laid flowers at the entrance to the park which is home of the bowls club and a local football team.She said: 'All my children were out looking for Lilly. We all thought she would be found alive.'My son came home from work and said he wouldn't be going back until she was found. It's terrible to think about.'A 14-year-old boy charged with her murder, appeared at court on June 29. Judge Tracey Lloyd-Clarke, the Recorder of Cardiff, said a trial would begin on November 23, and is due to last four weeks. The teenage boy, who did not enter a plea to the murder charge, was remanded into custody until his next court appearance. Police described the boy, from the Blaenau Gwent area of south-east Wales, as white British. Councillor Lisa Catherine Winnett previously said the community was 'devastated' by the discovery.She said: 'My thoughts and prayers are with Lilly’s family at this devastating and awful time. I hope police work promptly now to find the perpetrator.'
